about me/contact
Me, my pineapple on a stick and my rental bike.
Ueno Station, Japan, 2008.
I was enthralled by the Japanese Wood Block Prints that I saw on this trip to Japan, as well as being enlivened by the ambiance, culture, lights and the chaotic atmosphere always in the background. These recent paintings are reminiscent of that experience.
As some of the titles suggest, my family and I often appear in my paintings as metaphors.
I have been making art my entire life. I have always loved designing, building, painting and sculpting. After receiving my Master of Fine Arts from Washington University, I went on to teach college level Fine Art for five years and then took some time off to raise my children. I continued to make artwork and a few years ago a conversation between two friends from Iowa led to my desire to be accepted into some of the top art fairs in the nation. It all began with a conversation in the parking lot of the Waterloo Center for the Arts!
This is just the beginning.
Thanks to all of my friends and family that have supported me so far and thank you for taking a look!
